"Educational Philosophy
Our mission together is to co-create an environment that fosters creativity, determination, motivation, respect, compassion, learning, and consistency. Together we will create our own rules and expectations to instill responsibility and accountability. The students’ input to the co-creation of the culture of our classroom is intricate in the sense that it's based not only on their past experiences, but also based on their willingness to be active participants in their current experiences.
I want learning to lie in the hands of the students by creating their own learning; this can be done by utilizing their ideas, thoughts, dreams, interests, extra curricular activities, etc. My belief is that a teacher should act as a facilitator of student’s learning in the classroom. As a teacher I will guide them along their learning journey and provide them with the tools, materials, and resources needed in order to create their own interpretations. When students have the opportunity to live the story of their learning, the material becomes tangible and therefore more memorable. In order for each student to demonstrate optimal learning, a teacher needs to lay the groundwork for a good classroom environment by having structured classroom management tactics.
"Education is a social process. Education is growth. Education is, not a preparation for life; education is life itself."
-John Dewey, American philosopher and educator
